Need a job? On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the U.S. added 517,000 jobs in January - that’s triple what economists expected and the biggest monthly gain since July 2022. The leisure and hospitality sector had the most added (128,000), followed by professional and business services (82,000).

Other significant gainers were professional and business services (82,000), government (74,000) and health care (58,000). Retail was up 30,000 and construction added 25,000. Unemployment dropped to 3.4%, the lowest it’s been since we landed on the moon in 1969.
