The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 5 that Brandon Hunt, a registered sex offender, has updated his address after relocating from inside the Mountain Home city limits to a county residence at 509 Timberlane Rd, Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Hunt is classified as a level 2 offender, which means he is considered a moderate risk to re-offend and community notification is justified. The Sheriff’s Office said Hunt was convicted of second degree sexual assault of a child on May 21, 2002 in Shawano County, Wisconsin. At the time of the offense, Hunt was 18 years old and engaged in sexual contact with a 12-year-old female. He also has a prior incident recorded for failing to register.

The notification states that “this person is not wanted by law enforcement at this time.” Sheriff John F. Montgomery said: “This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass Registered Sex Offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.”

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office secures funding through community donations via the Baxter County Sheriff Foundation and contributes to local safety efforts such as operating a detention center with separate housing for different inmate classifications and an on-site medical area according to the official website.

Additionally, the office partners with organizations like the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force and employs cross-trained staff for efficient operations according to its official website.

Sheriff Montgomery signed off on this notice as part of ongoing efforts by local authorities to keep residents informed about matters affecting community safety.
