Michael Raymond Wamser, a 61-year-old resident of Fout Road in Gamaliel, was arrested on April 27 at the Baxter County Court Complex on forty-nine charges related to child pornography. The arrest followed an investigation by the Arkansas State Police into crimes involving child exploitation, with a bench warrant issued for Wamser on April 22. He was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center.
Authorities served a search warrant at Wamser’s residence following his arrest. During the search, officers found additional materials linked to child pornography, numerous firearms, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia. An explosive device described as a “pipe bomb” was also discovered in a closet; the Arkansas State Police bomb squad responded to safely remove and dispose of it.
Wamser faces thirty-four felony counts of pandering or possessing media depicting sexual conduct with a child and fifteen felony counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing matters depicting child sexual contact. His bond is set at $150,000 for these initial charges. According to Sheriff John F. Montgomery: “Additional charges are pending in connection with the results of yesterday’s search warrant at WAMSER’S residence, which will result in the bond amount being increased. An update will be provided when those charges have been determined and filed.” Wamser is scheduled for his first court appearance today.
Wamser had previously been released on bond after an earlier arrest in July 2025 for aggravated assault and terroristic threatening; he awaits trial for those charges scheduled for August 10.
