The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 15 that Kenneth Wayne George, a registered sex offender previously residing in Gassville, has moved to a new address at 7092 Hwy 5 N, Lot 32 in Midway, Arkansas.
Officials said George is classified as a Level 2 offender, indicating a moderate risk to re-offend and justifying community notification. He was born on December 26, 1989. The Sheriff’s Office reported that George was convicted of statutory rape in Barrow County, Georgia in February 2009 and sentenced to seven months confinement. He also has multiple convictions for failure to register as a sex offender in Cherokee (2011), Dawson (2012), and Lumpkin (2013) counties in Georgia.
Sheriff John F. Montgomery stated: “This person is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass Registered Sex Offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.” There are no details available regarding the original statutory rape charge from 2009.
